Frequently asked questions

Questions, answered

The questions our clients ask us most, from pricing and start times to your artist, travel, changes and prep.

Pricing & booking

How much does it cost?

It depends on your services, your artist tier (Lead, Senior or Junior), how many people are getting ready and where. Answer five quick questions and your itemized quote appears instantly, with no call or email needed. Your quote link stays live, so you can come back and book from it whenever you are ready.

Can I talk to someone before I book?

Yes. Most clients book online without a call, but if you would like to talk it through, open your quote link, scroll past the quote and book a call under Next steps. You can also text us at (647) 931-0177.

What do I need to confirm my booking?

A signed contract and a 50% deposit. Both are done online from your quote link. The remaining balance is due one day before your appointment. We accept credit card only, not cash or e-transfer.

Are lashes included?

Yes. Every makeup service comes with complimentary lashes, for the bride and everyone else. If you would rather not wear them, the price stays the same.

Do you offer discounts or group rates?

Our pricing is fixed, so everyone pays the same fair price. Children 13 and under are charged our lower junior pricing.

Do you do hair as well as makeup?

Yes. You can book makeup only, hair only, or both.

Is tax included in the price?

Prices are before tax. The applicable sales tax for your province (HST or GST) is listed separately on your quote and contract.

Can you do hair and makeup for kids and flower girls?

Yes. Children 13 and under are charged junior pricing. Add them to your quote with everyone else.

Timing & group size

What time do we need to start to be ready on time?

You only need to tell us the time you have to be ready by. We work backwards from it, based on your services and how many people are getting ready, and your artist arrives about 15 minutes early to set up. Your ready-by time is the latest time everyone will be finished, so if services finish early your artist may leave early.

How many artists will we need for a group?

One artist is the default. Adding artists shortens the appointment, so for a larger group we send enough artists to finish everyone by your ready-by time. You can add artists from your quote link and see the price before you book.

How long does hair and makeup take?

For the bride, plan about 1.5 hours for makeup and 1.5 hours for hair, so 3 hours for both. For everyone else it is about 1 hour for makeup and 1 hour for hair, so 2 hours per person for both. Add 15 minutes before the first person for setup.

What happens if we are running late?

If your artist is kept waiting past the agreed start time, a late-start fee of $15 per 15 minutes applies. A late start can also mean your artist still has to leave at the original end time, so it is worth having everyone ready to sit down on time.

Your artist

How is my artist assigned?

You choose an artist tier (Lead, Senior or Junior) when you book. After booking, you set up your account and upload your inspiration photos. Nida reviews them and assigns the artist from that tier who best suits your look, location and timing. We do not take requests for a specific artist, but every artist in a tier is vetted to the same standard.

When will I know who my artist is?

Your artist’s name and phone number are emailed to you at 6 PM the day before your appointment. If you are a bride with a trial, your trial artist is also your wedding-day artist, so you will have met them already.

Can I see examples of my artist’s work?

Our portfolio at makeupbynidateam.com/makeupbynida-team-portfolio is organized by city and artist tier, so you can see the standard of the tier you are booking. Because artists are assigned after you book, we cannot show one particular artist’s work in advance.

What is the difference between Lead, Senior and Junior artists?

Every tier is vetted to the same standard. The difference is years of bridal experience, which is reflected in the price.

Can you use my own products?

Yes. Every artist brings a full professional kit, but if you feel strongly about a product you already own, we can use it.

Bridal trials

How much does a trial cost?

Trial pricing is shown on your bridal quote. Request your quote, then press “View trial pricing”.

When should I do my trial?

Ideally 4 to 6 months before your wedding, while your artist still has your date free. Booking a trial holds your wedding date: after the trial you have 3 days to confirm your wedding day with the same artist.

Should I book a trial?

We recommend it. A trial is where you share your inspiration photos, see the look on your own face and adjust it, so the wedding morning has no surprises.

How do I book a trial?

Start with your bridal quote. Once you have your quote link, scroll down, press “View trial pricing” and book your trial from the same link.

Is my trial artist the same as my wedding-day artist?

Yes. Your trial is done by the same artist who will be assigned to your wedding day, so book the trial in the tier you are leaning towards (Lead, Senior or Junior).

Travel & location

Is there a travel fee?

Your quote already includes the standard travel fee for your area. Locations further out have a higher travel fee depending on the city, and very distant destinations are charged per artist. Either way, the fee is on your quote before you book. If your town is not listed, text us your postal code and we will confirm.

Do you come to me?

Yes. We are a fully mobile team with no salon. Your artist comes to wherever you are getting ready: your home, a hotel room, the bridal suite, the venue or an Airbnb.

What do you need from us at the location?

A table and chair set up before your artist arrives, in a room with plenty of natural light (a kitchen counter is perfect), and power outlets for hair tools. Artists bring handheld mirrors, not full-length ones. Please lay out any jewelry, flowers or dupattas ahead of time.

Do we pay for parking?

If paid parking is needed at your location, it is invoiced after the appointment. Artists look for the cheapest option available.

After you book

Can I change my date, time or address after booking?

Usually, yes. Make changes in your account at app.makeupbynidateam.com. More than 7 days before, changes are allowed, though the same artist is not guaranteed. 4 to 7 days before, changes are a request that depends on artist availability. Within 3 days of the appointment the date and time can no longer change. If your address changes, any difference in travel fee applies.

Can I add people or services after booking?

Yes, subject to artist availability. Add them in your account at app.makeupbynidateam.com and we confirm and take a deposit for the additions. Services added on the day are possible if your artist has time, and are invoiced after the appointment. An additional-artist fee may apply if more artists are needed.

When is the balance due, and how do I pay it?

The remaining balance is due one day before your appointment. We email you an invoice link, and you pay it by credit card. Parking and any services added on the day are invoiced separately afterwards.

What is your cancellation policy?

More than 7 days before your appointment, you can keep your full deposit as credit for a future booking, or get a refund minus a 25% cancellation fee. Within 7 days, the deposit is non-refundable and non-transferable. On the day itself, the remaining balance is also due.

How do I contact my artist?

Your artist’s name and phone number arrive by email at 6 PM the day before. You can text them details like a room number or buzzer code directly, or add them to your account at app.makeupbynidateam.com.

What is my client account for?

After you book, you set up an account at app.makeupbynidateam.com. It is where you upload your inspiration photos, update your address, date, time or services, and check your booking details.

Prep & services

How should I prepare my hair?

Wash your hair the day before and let it air dry or blow dry it (it does not need to be a perfect blowout). Your hair should be fully dry, not wet, when your artist arrives. Greasy or oily hair will not hold curls. For natural curls, use only a little curl-enhancing product and go light on leave-in conditioner. Our sprays already include heat protection.

Can you put in hair extensions?

Yes. Extension installation is an add-on service. We do not supply extensions, so please bring your own, washed, dried and untangled. Tangled or dirty extensions may limit the style we can do.

Can you set my dupatta, veil or jewelry?

Yes. Dupatta, veil and jewelry setting is an add-on service. We do not provide accessories or flowers, so please have yours laid out before your artist arrives.

How should I prepare my skin?

Exfoliate and cleanse the night before for a smooth, non-cakey base, then apply a hydrating moisturizer. If your skin is oily, use a toner before moisturizer. SPF is recommended but not required.

Do you do blowouts?

Sometimes. Please check with us in advance, so we can confirm a stylist is available for blowouts on your date.

Do you offer saree draping?

Not at the moment. We provide hair and makeup only.
